Moonlight Shadows

This afternoon Jeff and I gathered heifers that we are going to breed (AI) in the morning, and our gather took a little longer than planned. We ended up four short, so we made another loop out in the Bridge Field. We found the heifers and got them headed in the right direction but didn't get them back to the corrals until after dark. Some people would think that this is a bad thing, but I didn't mind one bit! Luckily I had bundled up with jacket, gloves, and a wild rag, even though it was not cold when we started this afternoon. I have learned to be prepared for anything!!  As the darkness fell I realized we had an almost full moon to light our way. I could see mine and my horse's shadow as we rode along in the quiet moonlight. What a great ride!
My mom always loved a full moon, and spoke with such passion about taking moonlit rides horseback. I even remember going on a couple of these moonlit rides out in the sagebrush with her, we rode a lot of miles out in that desert together. Some people believe that those you have lost can see you when the moonlight shines upon you, and I am definitely one of them.
Today I am thankful for the moon that shines down gently upon us, for those many miles covered  horseback in the sagebrush with my mom, and for the moonlit ride I got to take tonight with Jeff.

Some Random Things That Bring Me Joy!

Cow doggies that will give anything to get in the truck and go to work!

A special cow named Thelma that makes my day every time I see her out in the pasture.

Old silver bits. If only they could tell their stories.

Those special moments when wildlife show themselves to you.

A certain dirty cowboy with a heart of gold.

Summer slicked horses up to their knees in grass.

Old barns, especially this one.

Life is about those little things that bring you joy! Slow down and take it all in.
